Lando Norris takes season opener in Melbourne

16/03/25

What a dramatic and action-packed Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne!

Lando Norris secures his first victory of the season for McLaren, triumphing ahead of Max Verstappen, who managed to hold onto second place despite challenging conditions. George Russell completes the podium for Mercedes. A huge surprise is Alex Albon in the Williams, finishing in an impressive fourth place – a sensational result for the historic British team. Also outstanding: rookie Kimi Antonelli, who delivers a strong performance in his debut F1 race to take fifth place.

Nico Hülkenberg also impresses, securing seventh place and earning valuable points for Sauber. On the other hand, Ferrari’s performance was disappointing: Charles Leclerc only manages to finish eighth, while Lewis Hamilton, in his first race for the Scuderia, crosses the line in tenth place.

The race was heavily impacted by extreme weather conditions. Torrential rain led to multiple incidents and several safety car phases. Among the drivers affected were Isak Hadjar, Jack Doohan, Carlos Sainz, Fernando Alonso, and Gabriel Bortoleto – all of whom crashed into the barriers and had to retire from the race.

It was a chaotic but thrilling season opener – and, most importantly, a historic victory for Norris and McLaren!
